Hook-a-duck is the traditional fairground game where players use a small rod with a hook on the end to lift a floating duck out of the water. Hook the duck, hook a duck and hook-a-duck are all the same stall. It is one of the simplest games on the site and one that works for the smallest children, because with a bit of patience most people manage it.
How it plays
Ducks float in a trough or pool, usually with a number or a mark on the underside that decides the prize. Players hook a duck, the number is read, and a prize is handed over. Whether every duck wins something, or only some do, is a matter of how the stall is run and what prizes are on offer, and that is agreed with you rather than fixed.
Planning your hire
Hook-a-duck can be provided in different stall styles depending on the setup available, from a traditional lit stall to a simpler table-top version for a small event. It needs a level pitch, access to water to fill the trough, and a little space for a queue. Prize arrangements and the size of the stall are confirmed as part of your proposal.
