Tin can alley, also called can knockdown, is the throwing game where players hurl balls at a stacked pyramid of cans and try to knock them all down. Nobody needs the rules explained: a child understands it at a glance and a competitive adult finds it hard to walk past.

How it plays

Players get a set number of balls per go and aim to clear the stack, or as many stacks as the stall sets up. How many cans are in a stack, how far back the throwing line is and what counts as a winning throw vary with the stall and the audience, so a fete with young children can be set up differently from a corporate fun day. Prize rules are agreed with you rather than published as one universal format.

Planning your hire

Tin can alley is compact and easy to place. It needs a level pitch and enough room behind the throwing line for a queue. Stall style, sizing, staffing and prize arrangements are confirmed as part of your proposal. It pairs well with the coconut shy for a run of traditional throwing games.
