Dodgems are electrically powered cars driven inside their own arena. Each rider steers their own car, and the point of the ride is the freedom that gives them: a lap of the floor, a swerve around a friend, and the bump everyone came for. Bumper cars, dodgem cars and dodgems are all the same attraction, and we quote it under whichever name you use.

What to expect

The arena arrives as part of the ride, with its own floor, surround and lighting, so it needs no prepared surface of its own beyond suitable ground. Presentation ranges from modern packs with contemporary lighting and sound to traditional tracks with painted rounding boards, and both work in front of a general audience.

A dodgem track runs in cycles. People queue, load, ride, and unload, and the cycle repeats all day, which keeps the queue moving all day.

Planning your hire

The number of cars, the size of the track and who can ride depend on the particular dodgem track supplied, so we do not publish universal figures. What we can say is that a dodgem track is one of the larger rides in the catalogue. It arrives on a heavy vehicle, needs a reasonably level area to be built on, and needs enough room around it to be set up and taken down. A wide, firm entrance is worth checking before anything else, and if access looks uncertain we can arrange a site visit before you commit.
