Safety & paperwork

Checked beforeit reaches you.

Paperwork is the part of booking attractions that organisers most often get stuck with, and the part that matters most if something goes wrong. Here is what we check, and what we do not claim to do.

Current on the dayyou actually need it.

A certificate that is valid today is not the same as one that is valid in August next year. Insurance lapses, inspections fall due, and an attraction booked eight months ahead can arrive with paperwork that expired in between.

We check the required paperwork and its dates before an attraction is confirmed for your event, against the dates of your event rather than the date we happened to look.

What we check

Not everything appliesto everything.

A coconut shy has no ride inspection and a coffee unit has no ADIPS record. What is required depends on the attraction, so the list below says where each one applies rather than presenting them as a single checklist.

  • Public liability insurance

Checked for currency and for a cover level appropriate to the attraction. Many venues and councils set a minimum, and we check against your event dates rather than today's.

    Applies to

    Each attraction supplied.

  • Risk assessments

Requested and reviewed for each attraction supplied, covering how it is sited, the exclusion zones around it and how it is operated on the day.

    Applies to

    Each attraction supplied.

  • ADIPS inspection records

The Amusement Device Inspection Procedures Scheme is the fairground industry's inspection regime, supported by the HSE. Where a ride falls under it we check the current Declaration of Operational Compliance.

    Applies to

Fairground rides that fall under the scheme. Game stalls and catering units do not.

  • Gas certification

Gas Safe evidence for appliances and installations in catering units that use them.

    Applies to

    Catering units with gas appliances.

  • Electrical evidence

Testing evidence for the unit and its distribution, which matters most where several attractions share a supply or a generator.

    Applies to

    Where the unit requires it.

  • Food hygiene

Food business registration with the local authority, and the current hygiene rating or inspection result under the relevant scheme, for each catering unit supplied.

    Applies to

    Catering only.

What this doesand does not mean.

We are not an inspection body and we do not certify anyone. The certification belongs to the party operating each attraction, the inspecting engineer or authority issues it, and we check that what is required exists, is current for your dates, and is passed on.

Responsibility for the event as a whole stays with you. We supply the attractions and coordinate the supply; the event, the site and its overall safety management remain yours. If your local authority or venue asks for documentation in advance, we gather it for each attraction and send it as one set rather than leaving you to chase several businesses individually.
