A funhouse, or fun house, is a walk-through fairground attraction. There is no seat and no ride cycle: people go in at one end and make their way through a series of features to come out at the other, usually down a slide. Because it runs continuously it handles a large number of people over a day, and because everyone goes at their own pace it suits mixed groups of children and adults.

What to expect

Every funhouse is different, and this is the point to be honest about. Depending on the individual attraction it can include several levels, moving or tilting floors, rollers, rope bridges, mirror sections, obstacles, spinning elements and one or more slides to finish. Some are aimed squarely at younger children and some are built for a general audience. We will describe exactly what the proposed funhouse contains rather than promising a particular list of features.

Planning your hire

Funhouses range from compact walk-throughs to large two-storey attractions, so the space and access needed vary a great deal. All of them need level ground and vehicle access to their pitch, and the larger ones need room to be built. Age and height guidance depends on the particular funhouse and is confirmed as part of your proposal. It is listed under both Funfair Rides and Children's Rides because it genuinely belongs in both.
