The Jumping Frogs, often just called the Frogs and sold in some versions as Jump and Smile, is a circular family ride. Passenger cars sit at the end of arms around a central structure. As the ride rotates, the arms lift and drop the cars in a repeating bounce, so riders are carried round and round while being jumped up and down. Several versions use pneumatic operation to produce the bounce, though the mechanism differs from one machine to another.

What to expect

It is a ride for families and younger riders who want something livelier than a roundabout but are not ready for the big machines. The bouncing is the whole appeal, and the cars are usually themed, frogs being the classic. It sits well beside tea cups and a mini Miami in a children's area, or as the family ride in a wider line-up.
